AFRICA’s ASCENT
MEMBERS & VISITORS:
AFRICA’s ASCENT
As an American African who has lived on the African continent for over eight years, I’d like to share the following poem.
AFRICA’S ASCENT
I am confident, for Africa’s heart beats strong,
In every rhythm, in every song.
A continent rising, bold and free,
A beacon of hope, for the world to see.
I am confident, for her children stand tall,
Innovators and dreamers, answering the call.
From Cairo’s pyramids to Cape’s roaring sea,
Uniting in purpose, in shared destiny.
I am confident, for wisdom flows deep,
In ancient lands where history sleeps.
From Timbuktu’s scrolls to the wisdom of kings,
In every story, the future sings.
I am confident, for art and science blend,
In a dance of progress, without end.
Creativity sparks, in young minds bright,
Illuminating paths, with radiant light.
I am confident, for voices rise in chorus,
In every city, in every forest.
Speaking of justice, equality, and rights,
Guiding the continent to new heights.
I am confident, for women lead the way,
Breaking barriers, day by day.
Empowering all, with strength and grace,
In every field, they find their place.
I am confident, for the land is rich,
In resources, spirit, a cultural niche.
From fertile soils to mineral wealth,
Nurturing health, and communal wealth.
I am confident, for technology soars,
Opening knowledge, unlocking doors.
Connecting people, near and far,
Under the guidance of the evening star.
I am confident, for the diaspora’s bond,
From continent to continent, and beyond.
A global network, strong and vast,
Rooted in a shared, enduring past.
I am confident, for change is in the air,
With every breath, a whispered prayer.
For peace, for progress, for a world renewed,
In Africa’s rise, our hopes imbued.
I am confident, for love is the key,
In every heart, in every sea.
Uniting us all, in its powerful embrace,
In Africa’s ascent, we find our grace.
