KENYAN INVENTORS WIN $1,000,000 PRIZE

Congratulations to Eco-Bana, a Kenyan social venture started by four university students, that has just won the prestigious Hult Prize and a cash award of $ 1,000,000. The prize is awarded to entrepreneurs who strive to tackle pressing global issues through innovation. The firm makes hygienic sanitary pads from banana fibres. This is the Hustler Spirit that we are keen to support, says newly elected President William Ruto. Time will tell how Keen the president really is in support and what form(s) of support his administration actually offers. In the mean time, I will be working keenly with Kenyan youth through Tharaka Invention Academy and other local institutions to make sure that the conveyor belt of new ideas and new solutions keeps rolling here in Kenya.
