Nigerian Teen: Robot Designer

Inventor Isah Auwal Barde, aged 17, created the robot Mutum Mutumi from cardboard and other miscellaneous materials he could find. It took Barde two years to build the robot. He had no funding, so all the parts were found locally or provided by others. He also said that “some of the items I got them from trash such as the bottles, caps, scrap wood and there are some of pipes.” We can all imagine if he had access to the tools, equipment, facilities, materials, and guidance which many in the richer nations of the world have. In spite of this lack of support, the spirit of invention and creates burns bright in many young African. It is with this understanding that Invention School and its umbrella organization, Tharaka Invention Cirle, will work hard to provide the best training and support it can to these young African inventors.

Silas Adekunle’s quest to make robotics more exciting made him create the world’s first intelligent gaming robot.
