Young Inventors Solving African Problems

There is a tremendous need for invention and innovation to solve challenges in Kenya, for example, but the public and private school systems largely do not yet formally recognize this need and have not accommodated systems to meet these needs. When recognized, priority is given to avoiding distractions, passing standardized tests, and regurgitating facts. This is their order of the day handed down to them as a colonial legacy and it remains a recipe for disaster.

Tharaka Invention Academy’s target market is 16-26 year old males and females, African heritage, minimum high school graduates, urban or rural homes, living in Internet accessible locations, having sufficient access to computer, laptop, or mobile device, having background interests in Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, Mathematics (STEAM), having interest in continuous learning, seek career advancement, demonstrated interest in advancing their communities, are natural seekers of solutions to problems, and have one or more social media accounts. This pool of potential students will be nurtured as a community long before courses are finally made accessible.

Students will receive ongoing alerts about invention competitions, significant new inventions and innovations, and organizations, businesses, and institutions which can further invention careers. We have published other informative posts on Invention School’s website which may interest future enrolees.
