About Tharaka Invention Circle (TIC)
Community-based sustainable innovation in Kenya
Tharaka Invention Circle is a community-based organization established in 2021 in Eastern Kenya to uplift women, youth, and marginalized residents through sustainable innovation. The group focuses on environmental stewardship by managing a massive tree nursery and implementing climate-smart agricultural practices to combat resource degradation. A key achievement of the organization is the development of the TIA 3500 solar dehydrator, a technological tool designed to reduce food waste and enhance food security by preserving local crops. Beyond ecological efforts, they provide essential capacity-building programs that cover entrepreneurship, vocational training, and mental health support. By merging educational advocacy with inventive local solutions, the circle aims to eliminate poverty and foster economic empowerment within the region. Through partnerships and community outreach, the organization works toward a vision of shared prosperity and lasting environmental justice.
