Hello Family! My name is Professor Singer, and I teach invention courses at the online school known as Tharaka Invention Academy. Doctor Robert Langer lived at a time when people weren’t worried about robots and smart machines taking over jobs. He didn’t have to think about what skills would still be important 20 years later. But now, many people are scared that new technology might make their jobs unnecessary. This makes them wonder what they can do that machines can’t and what kind of work will still be there for humans in the future.

Devin Erickson, a writer, gives us some hope and advice during these uncertain times. In his book “Theft of Fire” and his writings online, Erickson tells us that the usual way schools teach us to prepare for just one kind of job isn’t the best way anymore. Instead, he says we should learn lots of different skills and be ready to change and try new things. Erickson believes that being creative, able to solve problems, good at talking to people, and quick to learn new things are really important. He calls this mix of skills the “future-proof skill stack.”
