IN THE AGE OF ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE, WHAT WILL AFRICAN INVENTORS CONTRIBUTE?

In this documentary created in 2019, the Frontline producers have assumed that only China and the United States will be significant players in this technology. You could rightly believe that Africa has been written off completely as a viable global competitor. The answer might surprise you. One prominent caveat is that western companies and governments will try to seize Africa’s best artificial intelligence brains (brain drain) thus draining the continent of its own abilities to independently develop the fruits of artificial intelligence for its own purposes. These corporations use the lure of wealth, fame, and power to extract individuals with the highest potential for contributing to the development of Africa and using them instead to increase the power and influence of foreign corporations and governments.

Will African entrepreneurs and inventors be able to access the huge amounts of investment and development capital as Chinese or American inventors? Tharaka Invention Academy will do its level best to make sure Africans are players in this game of the fourth industrial revolution and take the game to a wholly different level.
