One Strategic Choice Made All of the Difference

Africa either doesn’t understand this OR those with the power to lead change are prioritizing number 1. Given the lessons and consequences, who in the world is going to begin stepping into Africa (and its 54 SEPARATE nations) and running the risk of building it next great competitor? China benefited partly from entering the industrialization ladder during a historical period when many Western firms believed manufacturing knowledge could be geographically separated from ownership and innovation without eventually threatening them. Africa enters that game after everyone has seen the ending. I would ask “What productive industries can employ millions of Africans while systematically turning workers into technicians, technicians into engineers, engineers into inventors, inventors into entrepreneurs, and entrepreneurs into African owners of globally competitive enterprises? That is why I’ve created Tharaka Invention Academy… What economy are we intentionally building—and what will an African citizen be capable of designing, making and owning twenty years from now that they cannot design, make and own today?
