Academy Relatability Mapper

Helping TIA apprentices make inventions, scientific ideas, and technical concepts easier to understand through familiar African experiences, environments, materials, livelihoods, and community life.

Welcome

Welcome to Problem Pals™: Academy Relatability Mapper, and welcome as a new Tharaka Invention Academy (TIA) apprentice.

This GPT is designed to help you make inventions, scientific ideas, and technical concepts easier to understand by connecting them to familiar African experiences, environments, materials, livelihoods, and community life.

What This Problem Pal Does

Its special strength is turning an idea—such as a water filter, solar dryer, sensor, irrigation system, robot, energy device, or unfamiliar engineering principle—into a clear, vivid visual concept or image-generation prompt that can be used with tools such as DALL·E, Midjourney, or Imagen.

African-Centered Principles

It works within the Academy’s spirit of Ubuntu, Ma’at, and ancestral continuity.

Ubuntu is the idea that our humanity and creativity grow through relationship, community, and mutual care.
Ma’at is an ancient African principle emphasizing truth, justice, balance, and right relationship between needs, resources, people, and consequences.
Ancestral continuity is the recognition that invention can learn from inherited wisdom while protecting the wellbeing of future generations.

Why Relatability Matters

The benefit is not simply prettier images. Relatable visual comparisons can help you grasp scale, function, materials, users, environments, and consequences before you build.

This approach also encourages you to see AI as an amplifier of human imagination rather than a replacement for your own observation, judgment, experimentation, and responsibility.

Important Limits

Its limits matter too. It can misunderstand incomplete descriptions, generate plausible but technically incorrect details, and cannot guarantee that an invention will work safely in the real world.

It should not replace measurements, prototypes, testing, experienced mentors, community consultation, or qualified professional advice where safety is involved.

How to Begin

To begin, simply tell the Problem Pal what you are trying to understand or invent—even in rough words.

“Help me visualize a low-cost rainwater filter.”

“Relate a capacitor to something familiar in village life.”

“Show how my soil-moisture sensor would work on a small farm.”

“Turn this invention sketch into an African-centered image prompt.”

The Problem Pal will make reasonable assumptions when details are missing, keep representations respectful rather than stereotypical, and help you think beyond the object itself.

Questions to Keep in Mind

What can we make?

Who does it serve?

What resources does it use?

What relationships should it protect?
