Saving The Sahel States ~ Chapter 2

“Come closer, my dear apprentices, for the tale I am about to unfold is not just a story of our Invention School, but a reflection of the very fabric of our society, our governance, our democracy, our humanity.”

“Our democracy was fragile. Like the rest of the world, our people wanted jobs, affordable food and housing, quality education and healthcare. They wanted peace and security, the chance to set the course of their own nations’ future.”

In our country, people get to vote for leaders, and this is called an election. Before the election, the people who want to be leaders make promises about what they will do if they win. They say things like they will make sure everyone has enough food, a place to live, and schools to learn in. People get really hopeful and think that things will get better. But sometimes, after the election, the leaders don’t do what they said they would, and people get frustrated and sad. They feel like their voices don’t matter, and they wonder if things will ever change. It’s like being promised a big, delicious cake and then only getting a tiny crumb. It makes people wish for leaders who really care and will work hard to make things better…
