The Value of African Citizenship

Ghana grants citizenship to African Americans & Caribbeans as part of beyond the return initiative

The story of Africa’s ascension and the story of diasporan repatriation will be intertwined and deeply nuanced. My own journey to Africa began 52 years ago in the Republic of Ghana to a small village outside the capitol city of Accra. If Kenya remains hospitable to my stay in Africa, I will consolidate my journey here with African citizenship after the requisite amount of time of having lived here. The mantle of leadership in the effort to repatriate the African diaspora to the continent clearly belongs to Ghana but the broader story of what this will all mean 50 years from now and who the major players were in this effort remains to yet be told. Which other prominent names will go down in the history books?

There’s no denying my relationship to Mother Africa

My first child Nonkululeko was born there and my destined path on earth was forged there. Today I’m still on that very same path of building institutions to further the development of the African continent and African people by building a nation of African inventors. Enough said!

My daughter’s name Nonkululeko was taken from the Zulu’s of South Africa, meaning “Born Free”.
